FIRST A LAMB, AND THEN A LION
At His First Advent, Jesus, the Son of God, was born in a lowly manger (Lk. 2:7). His parents were so poor, that they could only afford two doves for an offering at His circumcision (Lev. 12:8; Lk. 2:24). He grew up a common laborer (Mk. 6:3). After He began His ministry, He had no place to call His own (Lk. 9:58). In order to pay the Temple tax, He needed “a miracle fish with a hunger for coins” (Mt. 17:27). Women supported Him (Mk. 15:41). He was described as a sacrificial Lamb of God (Jn. 1:29). The Apostle Paul described Jesus as coming as a servant (Phil. 2:7-8)!
When Jesus returns to rule His Millennial Kingdom, He will come as a King, as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Rev. 5:5)! No more mangers; no more poverty; no more being a servant; He will come as described in the following verses:
“Verily I say unto you, There
be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the
Son of man coming in His kingdom. And after six days Jesus taketh
Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high
mountain apart, and was transfigured before them: and His face did shine
as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light “ (Mt. 16:28-17:2).
“And in the midst of the seven
candlesticks One like unto the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down
to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and
His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a
flame of fire; and His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a
furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters. And He had in His
right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged
sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength” (Rev. 1:13-16).
“And I saw heaven opened, and
behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and
True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as
a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name
written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a
vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. And
the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed
in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them
with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a
name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” (Rev. 19:11-16).
All those who rejected Jesus at His First Coming, will bow to Him at His Second Coming!
