Father’s Day
“…He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children.” Malachi 4:6
Malachi 4:6 is God’s promise to fix hearts. We know that it’s impossible for any human relationship to be perfect, and that includes our relationships with our dads. For some of us, that means the odd argument, for others of us, it’s a bit more serious (And if it’s something big and serious, it’s really important to get help, yeah? Good. Just checking). And, sometimes, dads just aren’t there, for a whole bunch of reasons. But that verse is still relevant. Even if dad’s not around, he’s still something that’s on your heart (maybe even more so than if he was there…). Whatever your situation, know this – God can, and will, make it better over time. Even if your relationship with your dad is good, God wants to make it even better. He’s the only one who knows what an absolutely perfect relationship looks like, and He’s willing to help your relationships start to get a bit more into that sort of shape. So, let’s look at Malachi 4:6 again. In a Bible. Not just in the header verse. That promise of God’s to change hearts? Yep, it’s a two-parter. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their sons and daughters. But we, sons and daughters, have to agree to have our hearts geared more towards our parents in return.
What Now?
Write the first bit of Malachi 4:6 above the bit of it that’s already on this page. Done? Think about how that change of heart could fit into the way you think and feel about your dad. Pray about it.
