edwardinkling Brother Washer speaks well. However, a great fear of mine, as a Calvinist, in seeing others turn away from Armenianism and embrace the Reformed, Calvinist doctrines, is the danger of Hyper-Calvinism. Though I believe Armenianism is bad, perhaps, at times, to the point of evil, it doesn't come near the Biblical misrepresentation of Hyper-Calvinism.
Armenians should study Romans and Hyper-Calvinists should study James.
The goal is not to be Armenian or Calvinistic, but Biblical.

That imitation is to be the same as Christ Jesus who gave Himself up as a fragrant offering. That is, He did not seek His own glory. Every time you dedicate yourself to acting the way you think Jesus would act, you are in effect seeking your flesh's glory, not God's. Only Jesus can be Jesus. Imitate Him by taking up your cross. Kill the flesh! This is a fragrant aroma to God, because He now gets all the glory for conforming you into the image of His Son.
We love Him, because He first loved us. Right on. But notice what John did not say. He did not say, "We are to try our best to love Him, because He first loved us." Rather, he's describing what is so for the believer. Father, Son and Spirit have invaded our heart. It is only natural then that we love.
Yes, the reality of that shall shine in our ways of life. But notice again, we don't TRY to make them shine. Rather, He works within our hearts to produce that shine
