THE HIGHWAY

And a highway shall be there; and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.

(Isaiah 35:8)

WHAT IS THE HIGHWAY ?

All highways lead us somewhere. What about this one?

It leads to the future and determines what we do today! If you died today,

what would happen to you? There's a lot of speculation about that,

isn't there?

The stops along this highway will help us all think more about that

question and they will also point us to locations where the answers

may be found. But, why "The Highway?"

There is a book in the Bible called Romans. It's called that because

it was written to people in Rome. In this book there are a series

of verses that have been called "Salvation's Highway" or the

"Roman Road." That's because these four verses lead to eternal life.

All of us are born dead in trespasses and sin.
God demands a stiff penalty for any and all sin: eternal death!
The LORD Christ paid the penalty for sinners through His death

on the cross.
We must confess that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him

from the dead.

So, where does this road take us? The first three stops along the

highway can be seen in our rear view mirror -- they are all in the past.

We have sinned. God, being perfectly just and holy, demands that

our sin be punished. Yet, just as I could pay a speeding ticket for

you (don't hold your breath!), Jesus paid the price for needy sinners.

There's one more stop along this highway: belief. Maybe that part

isn't so easy for you? Join the crowd! It certainly took me a long time.

But, is there any greater question than where will your Journey end?

A Brief Statement of Faith

The Bible
The Bible is the Word of God written, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without contradiction of error in the original manuscripts. The Bible alone is the infallible and sole authority for all matters of faith and life.

God
There is one God who exists eternally in three Persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are the one God; consisting of the same substance, co-eternal and co-equal in power and glory. He is self-existing and independent of His creation, Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent.

Creation
In the beginning, God created the material universe from nothing in the span of six, twenty-four hour days. He spoke, and by the word of His power, it was. All things exist and continue to exist according to His divine power and government. By His providence all things are upheld, controlled and continue in their course according to God's eternal foreordination.

Sin
All men are born sinners and are wholly in rebellion to God and all that is holy and good; totally unable to save themselves or even to cooperate with God in efforts to earn their salvation, due to the depravity of their souls, which all men inherit from our first father Adam by virtue of the Fall.

The Incarnate Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God incarnate; Who took upon Himself to become man, being born of a virgin, lived, died and rose again to atone for the sins of those who the Father gave Him; a remnant of undeserving sinners out of Adam's fallen race. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man.

Salvation
Salvation is by God's will and power alone, Who sovereignly chose out of the fallen race of mankind, a remnant of undeserving sinners to be grafted into Christ, to the glory of His name. God alone saves those whom He has elected to receive His grace in His good time by irresistibly drawing them to Jesus Christ through His Word. This is accomplished by regeneration of the Holy Spirit Who: quickens the spiritually dead soul, convinces and convicts them of their sin, enlightens them so that they repent of their sins, and with a true faith, trust in Jesus Christ unto justification. Because God alone knows those who are His, having predestinated them before the foundation of the world, according to His good pleasure and for His glory, the gospel is to be preached to all men everywhere, calling upon them to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord.

The Holy Spirit
God the Holy Spirit indwelling within each and every Christian, supplies the daily strength and wisdom they need to walk according to His will and to grow in holiness. To the church, the Body of Christ, He distributes various gifts of service for the edification of the body, for the work of ministry.

Judgment
Jesus Christ shall return personally, visibly, and bodily to judge all mankind and to receive His people unto Himself. At the Judgment, all men will be required to give an accounting of every thought, word and deed which were theirs during their life on earth. Those who have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ will receive the inheritance of glory, promised to them in the gospel. All others will receive that which they deserve, that being eternal hell for having lived in rebellion to God.
