Eternity on the Eyes

Do you realize that God's Law is the unmovable rock that will forever stop the flow of the River Life for everyone who dies in his sins? It will damn them forever! What a terrifying horror: to be damned for eternity! Yet, so few are warned. Shake of any thoughts of tickling ears with carefully chosen words that don't offend, and do what Jesus did. Speak the truth in love. Keep their fate before your mind. Inscribe "eternity" on your eyes. This life is like a dry and burning desert. Time is like precious water cupped in your hands. Only an ignorant person will let its life-giving drops fall through his or her fingers. Benjamin Franklin said, "Do you love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of." There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

One Helluva Decision

Hell got bigger. Grace got Greater, and the world is heading for Hell in a handbasket. You really don't want to go there. Unless you seriously don't do something about it, You are Going to Hell. Hell was not made for you and you weren't made for Hell, but it isn't oblivion you are facing when you die, but Hell. You are going in the wrong direction and admit it or not, Hell is waiting for you. Jesus Said, Call on Me and You Shall Be Saved. We call it Salvation because it is. It is not going where you deserve to be, and that is Hell. Jesus said it, Call on me. Read these so you can be assured God wants you in heaven. "Call on the Name of the Lord, and You Shall Be Saved". Most people would live much more loving, fruitful and productive lives on earth if they would realize more the reality of heaven and live in light of it. We were born (again) with a destination in mind. It is time to reckon with the truth of heaven.

Heaven is the dwelling place of God. Heaven is where some will go at death (but others will never see). When the spirit leaves the human body, heaven becomes the believer's one true, eternal Home. Those who believe in Jesus are meant to happily anticipate heaven each day with great fervor and delight. For heaven is eternal joy! Heaven is forever.

I believe contemplating heaven is both wonderful and fascinating. The Bible has many encouraging and sobering truths to share also about eternal rewards and eternal judgment. The revelation of all the ages (God's Word in the Bible) was written to reveal to our hearts a place which is eternal. We were born to go there. When we die we will.

I hope this message will stimulate you to give serious thought (perhaps for the first time) to Heaven! (It should probably be noted that popular notion as well as many of the world's religions and cult groups typically distort clear Biblical truths about heaven and the basis for arriving there. So it becomes extra important for you personally to know what God says about your intended eternal home. Watch out for liars and false spiritual soothsayers. Pretenders who do not truly know or affirm Jesus for Who He really is. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2:15; Prov. 30:5-6, Is. 8:19-20) Rejoice in the truth. Search it out fully. Prepare your heart. Get your ticket. Jesus is the Way to Heaven!

A summary of the scriptural teaching on Heaven follows...

Heaven is a place which can be understood and revealed. The Bible describes times and ways which God supernaturally gives glimpses and revelations of heaven to people here on the earth (see: Revelation, the last book of the Bible). Jacob, in the Old Testament had a dream and revelation about heaven. (Gen. 28) Saints all through the ages have glimpsed eternity (common, ordinary folks like you and me who believe in Jesus). I myself have received two dreams which described heaven to me. In one, the Lord showed me Psalm 16:11 (made alive and dramatized), that heaven is being FILLED WITH JOY in God's Presence forever. Hallelujah!

Heaven is

• where God is
• the dwelling place of God (Deut. 26:15; Matt. 6:9, Rev. 21:3-5).
• the dwelling place of God's angels (Luke 2:15; Matt. 28:2;Heb. 12:22).
• where we can go after death (but only some will)
• Heaven is a very real place.
• where Jesus came from (John :42),
• where He returned after his resurrection (Acts 1:11),
• where He now is and from where He will physically return to earth again (Acts 1:11; Rev. 19:1-16, John 1:32; 6:33; Acts 1:2).

Jesus is coming soon! Angels (Matt. 28:2; Rev. 10:1)
and - in rare circumstances - people, even prior to their deaths, have traveled to heavenly places (2 Kings 2:11; 2 Cor. 12:2; Rev. 11:12).

At death, the human spirit leaves the body (Eccl. 12:2) and goes either to heaven or hell
(Luke 16:22ff) There is immediate conscious existence after death, both in heaven and hell (Luke 16:22ff.; Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 5:8; Rev. 6:9-11; Phil. 1:23). It is doubtful that there is a state of "soul sleep" or any period of unawareness preceding heaven. "Fallen asleep" in 1 Thes. 4:13 is probably a euphemism for death, describing the spirit's departure from the body, which ends our conscious existence on earth. Ecclesiastes also seems to reinforce this notion. It speaks similarly when it describes death (as it appears from the perspective of those who dwell "under the sun.") Paul said that as soon as we are absent from the body, we will be present with the Lord. Hallelujah! (2 Cor. 5:1-11)

At death the believer is ushered into heaven. Apparently by angels (Luke 16:22). Death is a relocation experience (during which we may be accompanied by ministering angels).(Dan. 8:16-26; Luke 1:26-38; Dan. 10:13, 31; Rev. 12:1) (2 Kings 6:17) (Dan.9:21, 23; 10:12-13; Rev. 12:7) (Gen. 18-19) (Heb. 13:2, Heb. 1:14)

* Heaven is the dwelling place of God's children. Christ promised his followers they would live with him in heaven (John 12:26; 13:36; 14:2-3).

Believers in Jesus & faithful followers of the Lord who have died now live there in His presence (Rev. 4-5; Luke 16:22, 25; Heb. 12:23). The names of Christ's redeemed are written in heaven (Luke 10:20; Heb. 12:23; Rev. 20:15).

* Heaven is the Christian believer's "country" of citizenship (Heb. 11:16; Phil. 3:20). Christ is our King. Eternally! Despite how earth-engrossed some of us are, earth is only an alien "country" where believers temporarily reside. (1 Cor. 7:29-31) We are aliens, foreigners, pilgrims and strangers. (Heb. 11:3) Yet while here we are God's ambassadors on earth (2 Cor. 5:20). Healthy, fruitful living begins with remembering our stay here is brief. Temporary. The Bible frequently urges us to fix our minds and hearts on what is eternal. (Col. 3:1-4, Ps. 73:23-28) Ambassadors & foreigners identify themselves in heart with their home country (not their temporary, foreign reside). How desperately we need to plan our lives with this focus: ever glimpsing eternity, always maintaining love and allegiance to our One true King, ready and prepared for relocation to our eternal country.

God's people need hearts which long for heaven. This quality of heart (longing for heaven) is instructed all through scripture and pleases our Lord, who has prepared a place there for us (Heb. 11:13-16; 2 Cor. 5:2). We are meant to live ever-anticipating heaven (Phil. 3:14; 2 Tim. 4:8). The Bible encourages us especially to long for His appearing (the bodily coming of Jesus upon the clouds in power and great glory). He is coming soon. His Second Coming is very near. Right at the door! Hallelujah! Heaven & the Lamb at its center are worthy of being regular & central to our attention. (Jn. 1:29, Revelation 5) Our hearts or minds are urged to be set on "things above" where Christ is - in heaven, not on "earthly things." (Col. 3:1-4)

Note: The popular adage about Christians being "so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly good" is a myth. And helps perpetuate other lies in half-hearted Christianity. On the contrary, most people are so EARTHLY minded they are of no heavenly or earthly good. C. S. Lewis said, "It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this one." God commands us instead to be heavenly minded. Setting our minds on things above helps put daily life and issues in better perspective, frees us from discouragement and misdirected energies and priorities. Heavenly meditation makes us more sensitive to Jesus, His voice and Presence. Jesus is our power to live and be fruitful on earth (John 15, Heb. 11:26-27). Heaven gives the struggling Christian peace and a happy heart even in the midst of life's greatest trials.

Think of the Sun

Think of the greatness of the sun. It silently rises and sets each day, painting our skies with magnificent colors. Yet every second, millions of tons of hydrogen are destroyed in explosions that start somewhere near the core of our sun, where the temperature is 13 million degrees Celsius. That's hot. The earth's entire oil, coal and wood reserves would fuel its energy output to the earth alone for only a few days. Tongues of hydrogen flame leap from the surface with the force of one billion hydrogen bombs! They are thrust up by the enormous thermonuclear explosion at the core of the sun where 564 million tons of hydrogen fuse each second to form helium. Almighty God created it, and guilty sinners have to face Him on the Day of His Wrath. What an unspeakably fearful thing. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

To Be a Soul-winner

It seems that God has a special smile for those who throw themselves into the task of seeking to save the lost. In John chapter four, when Jesus told His disciples that He ate something of which they knew nothing, He had been sharing the Gospel. The great Bible commentator, Matthew Henry, said, "I would think it a greater happiness to gain one soul to Christ than mountains of silver and gold to myself." Charles Spurgeon said, "To be a soul winner is the happiest thing in this world." While we can obtain pleasure from reading the Bible, from fellowship with other Christians, and from worship, seeking the lost (and doing it biblically) gives the Christian a unique satisfaction. Philemon 1:6 says that if you share your faith, it will open up a deeper spiritual realm. Dive into that deeper realm today. There goes another minute. Gone forever. Go share your faith while you still have time.

It started to happen gradually.
I would walk into a room
and say something
and noone would notice.
I would say, "Turn the TV down, please,"
and nothing would happen.
So, I would get louder.
"Turn the TV down, please!"
Finally, I would have to go over and turn the TV down myself.
And then I started to notice it elsewhere.


My husband and I had been at a party for about three hours and I was ready to go.
I looked over and he was talking to a friend from work and I walked over and
...he kept right on talking.
He didn't even turn toward me.
That's when I started to put it together.
[Laugh] He can't see me.
[Audience laughs] I'm invisible. I'm invisible!
Then I started to notice it more and more.
I would walk my son to school and his teacher would say,
"Jake, who's that with you?" and my son would say, "Nobody."
[Audience laughs] Granted, he's just five, but, nobody?
One night a group of us gathered
and we were celebrating the return of a friend from England
Janice had just taken this fabulous trip and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in
and I was sitting there looking around at the other women at the table.
I'd put my make-up on in the car on the way there.
I had on an old dress because it was the only thing clean and I had my unwashed hair pulled up in a banana clip
and I was feeling pretty darn pathetic.
And then Janice turned to me and she said,
"I brought you this."
[Sigh] It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe.
I didn't understand.
And then I read her inscription.
She wrote, "With admiration for the greatness of what you are building when noone sees."
You can't name the names of the people who built the great cathedrals.
Over and over again looking at these mamoth works,
you scan down to find the names and it says, "Builder: unknown, unknown, unknown."
They completed things not knowing that anyone would notice.
There's a story about one of the builders who was carving a tiny bird inside a beam
that would be covered over by a roof.
And someone came up to him and said, "Why are you spending so much time on something noone wi ll ever see?"
And it's reported that the builder replied, "[Sigh] Because God sees."
They trusted that God saw everything.
They gave their whole lives for a work
-- a mammoth work --
they would never see finished.
They showed up day after day.
Some of these cathedrals took over a hundred years to build.
That was more than one working man's lifetime.
Day after day.
And they made personal sacrifices for no credit.
Showing up at a job they would never see finished for a building their name would never be on.
One writer even goes so far as to say,
"No great cathedrals will ever be built again
because so few people are willing to sacrifice to that degree."
I closed the book
and it was as if I heard God say,
"I see you.
You are not invisible to me.
No sacrifice is too small for me to notice.
I see every cupcake baked,
every sequen sewn on
and I smile over everyone.
I see every tear of disappointment when things don't go the way you want them to go.
But, remember
you are building a great cathedral.
It will not be finished in your lifetime.
And sadly, you will never get to live there.
But, if you build it well, I will."
At times, my invisibility has felt like an affliction to me,
but it is not a disease that is erasing my life.
It is the cure for the disease of self-centeredness.
[Sigh] It is the antidote to my own pride.
It's ok that they don't see.
It's ok that they don't know.
I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college,
"You're not gonna believe what my mom does.
She gets up at four in the morning and she bakes pies and hand bastes a turkey and she presses all the linens.
Even if I do all those things,
I don't want him to say that.
I want him to want to come home.
And, secondly, I want him to say to his friend,
"You're gonna love it there."
It's ok that they don't see.
We don't work for them.
We work for Him.
We sacrifice for Him.
They will never see, not if we do it right, not if we do it well.
Let's pray that our work will stand as a monument to an even greater God.

Dupa o ora, omul s-a calmat si a inceput sa gandeasca:
Poate chiar era ceva de care chiar avea nevoie sa cumpere cu 25$ si chiar nu mi-a cerut bani des. Omul a mers la usa baiatului si a deschis-o

M-am gandit, poate am fost prea dur mai devreme, spuse tatal. A fost o zi lunga si m-am descarcat pe tine. Uite aici ai 25$

Micutul a sarit, zambind. Multumesc tati, a zbierat. Dupa aceea a scos un pumn de bani.

Omul a vazut ca baiatul avea deja bani si s-a enervat din nou.

Micutul si-a numarat incet banii si s-a uitat catre tatal sau.

De ce vrei mai multi bani daca deja ai? a spus tatal.

Pentru ca nu am avut destul, dar acum am, a replicat baiatul

Tati, am 50$. Pot sa cumpar o ora cu tine???? Te rog sa vii mai repede acasa maine . Vreau sa mananc cu tine.
Tatal a fost distrus. Si-a luat baiatul in brate si l-a implorat sa il
ierte.

Este doar o reamintire pentru toti ce lucreaza din greu in viata. Nu ar trebui sa lasam timpul sa treaca printre degete fara sa petrecem timp cu cei care chiar conteaza pentru noi, aceia apropiati de inimile noastre. Sa ne amintim sa impartim cei 50$ din timpul nostru cu cineva pe care iubim.

Daca maine murim, compania pentru care lucram ne va inlocui foarte usor,in cateva ore. Dar familia si prietenii pe care ii lasam in urma o sa simta pierderea pentru tot restul vietii.

LEADING YOUR CHILDREN TO CHRIST

Wise Unto Salvation: Leading Your Children to Christ

As Senior Pastor of a church I have a tremendous responsibility. I don’t take that for granted. I feel the weigh of this responsibility every day of my life. I daily cast myself before the Lord pleading for His wisdom to lead God’s beloved people in the right way. Although this is a heavy burden there is an even greater weight that I bear and that is the weight of being a father. There is nothing I desire more in this life than that my children come to know Jesus Christ as Savior, that they love Him and live a life that brings glory to his name. I know this is likewise the desire of every Christian parent. If I fail in winning my own children to faith in Christ I have failed as a preacher. But if I can, by God’s help, bring my family to faith in Christ and yet have few converts in my ministry I will be a success in God’s eyes. Noah had very few converts but the converts he did have were his children and their wives. There is no greater responsibility that I have than to lead my children safely on board the Ark of salvation. In this awesome task I am totally dependent upon the grace and mercy of God. But I also must seek God for wisdom. In this post I would like to share some thoughts I received from meditating on 2 Timothy 3:14-16. In verse 15 of that passage Paul said to Timothy, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise uto salvation.”

1. Begin early – “that from a child…”The Greek word for “child” [brephos] is a word that speaks of the earliest beginning of a child. In fact it is used in Scripture to speak of infants not yet born (Luke 1:41) and of a newborn infant (Luke 2:12). Research on brain development is clear that the first three years are critical to a child’s future success. It is amazing how much children begin to learn at an early age. This is an opportune time to begin to teach them select simple verses of Scripture. It is never too early to begin to plant the seed of God’s Word in their heart. Scripture also affirms the God begins to reveal truth to “babes.” Jesus said, ”I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things [Biblical truth] from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes” (Matthew 11:25). Charles Spurgeon the Prince of Preachers said, “Let none despise the stirrings of the Spirit in the hearts of the young. Let not boyish anxieties and juvenile repentances be lightly regarded. I, at least, can bear my personal testimony to the fact that grace operates on some minds at a period almost too early for recollection.”

2. Teach them the trustworthiness of Holy Scripture. – “thou hast know the holy scriptures…” Children must understand that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We teach them this by how we as parents value and live according to the principles of Scripture. The Bible has been under attack through the years among evangelical Christianity. First, there was the attack on the inspiration of Scripture. There was a long hard battle over this issue and the battle was won. The attack now is more dangerous and insidious. The attack now is on Scripture’s sufficiency. Is God’s Word sufficient to teach me how to live and deal with the problems of life? We tell kids today, “Oh yes the Bible is God’s Word but unfortunately it is not enough. We need to go outside of Scripture to find certain answers that pertain to life and godliness!” By doing so we inadvertently teach them to trust in man’s wisdom rather than God’s. I want my children to know the Bible is God’s Word and that it is sufficient for them. There is not a problem they face where the Bible does not have the answer! If children do not believe the Bible is God’s Word and that it is authoritative for their life then they will not respect it nor trust it as a reliable guide!

3. Teach them the Ten Commandments – “which are able to make thee wise unto salvation.” The sacred scriptures that Paul refers to here was obviously the Old Testament. The New Testament was not complete nor part of the canon when Paul wrote this let alone when Timothy was a child. Paul’s point is learning the Old Testament will make one wise unto salvation! What part? The law, specifically, the Ten Commandments, prepares a child’s heart for salvation making them wise unto salvation! The Psalmist said, “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalm 19:7). Paul wrote in Galatians 3:24, “Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” The word “schoolmaster” is the Greek word paidagogos meaning a tutor i.e. a guardian and guide of boys. Among the Greeks and the Romans the name was applied to trustworthy slaves who were charged with the duty of supervising the life and morals of boys belonging to the better class. The boys were not allowed so much as to step out of the house without them before arriving at the age of manhood. They were responsible for the whole process of teaching and instructing the child morally. The law, specifically, the Ten Commandments, is like that schoolmaster preparing young hearts to receive the message of the gospel. That is why it is a great tool for evangelizing children. It was a master stroke of the devil to have the Ten Commandments removed from public places. Why? The devil does not want them to be viewed or heard because of the truths they teach about God.

A. The Ten Commandments teach children God is holy.

This is a lesson that we don’t emphasize enough with children! We teach them God is love but the first lesson they must learn is the first lesson Israel learned at Mt. Sinai (Exo. 20). God is a holy God and therefore He hates sin! It is a fearful thing to sin against a holy God.

B. The Ten Commandments teach children that God demands perfection.

God has an absolute standard of perfection, and none of us are able to attain it! When childen come to realize that they are sinners and fall short of God’s perfect standard they begin to see they are in need of God’s forgiveness. It prepares their heart for God’s message of mercy found in the gospel.

C. The Ten Commandments teach children to fear God.

Children need to learn to fear God. They must understand that God is a holy God who punishes all sin. They must understand that this holy God hates sin to the degree that one sin is enough to damn a soul to hell for all eternity. When children begin to grasp the concepts of God’s holiness and wrath for sin it begins to make them wise unto salvation. Proverbs 9:10 says, ”The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Jonathan Edwards said the first doctrine we should teach children is the doctrine of eternal torment. He felt as if there was a lack of the fear of God in the hearts of youth.

D. The Ten Commandments teach children they are sinners.

The law brings us face to face with our sinfulness. That is what is necessary before salvation can take place! Children must understand the concept of sin and their own innate sinfulness. The law is like a mirror that display not the outer man but the inner man. The Ten Commandments reveal to the individual what they look like on the inside. It reveals our sin nature. It brings us to the end of any hope within oursleves of goodness and righteousness before God. The law breaks us because of our sinful condition.

The Great Reformer Martin Luther is a great example of the convicting power of the law and the brokenness it brings! One day in July year 1505 Luther, a university student at the time, was traveling along a parched road. Suddenly a violent thunderstorm came upon him. A bolt of lightning came crashing down next to him knocking him to the ground. He cried out in terror, “St. Ann, help me and I will become a monk.” Shortly after his experience Luther paid his vow and became an Augustinian monk. As a monk Luther had an acute awareness of the holiness of God. He set out to be a perfect monk He fasted for days, indulged in severe forms of self-flagellation. He went beyond the rules of the monastery in matters of self-denial. He sought to keep the Ten Commandments rigorously. He sought to obtain grace and salvation through his own merits.

Yet, the harder he tried to merit salvation and keep the commandments the more sinful he felt. Luther went to confession everyday. He would drive the Priests crazy because he did not just stay for few minutes, he stayed for hours. He wanted to make sure that no sin in his life was unconfessed. On one occasion Luther stayed in confession for six hours confessing the sins he had committed the previous day. The superiors of the monastery began to wonder about Luther. They considered the possibility that he was a “goldbricker” preferring to spend long hours in confession rather than doing his priestly chores. But Luther was in torment he had no peace. He knew that he stood before God a great sinner and that God was Holy. Someone asked Luther why are you so cast down, don’t you love God? Luther responded, “Love God? Sometimes I hate him. He seems to me as nothing more than an angry judge, with a sword in His hand.” Luther knew that he could not meet God’s standard of righteousness and thought God was unjust, unfair. His superiors sent him on a pilgrimage to Rome hoping this would help him. Catholics believe that by looking on sacred relics merit was gained and grace was thus imparted. But this only made Luther worse. He saw the corruption in the church. He ascended the Holy Stairs the “Santa Scalia” on his knees stopping to pray on each step until he reached the top. But nothing he did brought peace to his troubled soul.

Finally, one day as Luther was studying the Book of Romans. He was meditating on the phrase “the just shall live by faith.” Suddenly, like a lightning bolt from heaven it he saw it. It was gloriously simple, it was simply glorious. One is not saved by works, laws, rituals, ceremonies, indulgences, penance or merit. One is saved by faith in Jesus Christ He later wrote of that experience, “Then I grasped that the justice of God is that righteousness by which through grace and sheer mercy God justifies us through faith. Thereupon I felt thus to be reborn and to have gone through open doors to paradise…The Scripture took on a whole new meaning…. This passage of Paul became to me a gate to heaven.” Just as God’s law brought Luther to see his need of God’s mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ even so it will do the work of making our children wise unto salvation.

1. Growing up in Germany the Bible NT. Translated by Martin Luther
   was part of my growing up. He clearly said, that one can only be saved by the faith that we must have in Jesus Christ. Knowing that,I still can not figure out why this is not being preached in our German Lutheran churches.People are lost because the plan of Salvation is not preached.
   I have the feeling that most German’s dont look at Martin Luther the Reformer and translator of the NT. but rather as part of a historicl event .If you watch most visitors that go to “The Wartburg ML called it “his Patmos” or Wittenberg it is just history.

Some of these chapter files are large (up to almost 8MB!), so those without fast internet connections really need patience in waiting for them. If you have a DSL, T1, or Cable high-speed Internet connection, you may prefer book-by-book files also available here.

To download a file instead of playing it--in Windows, right-click on the link, choose Save Target As..., choose a suitable folder location, and click Save; in MAC systems, hold down Ctrl and click on the link, choose Download Linked File As..., choose a suitable folder location, and Save. Once saved, a file can be played over and over without downloading it again, and it can also be transferred to an mp3 player or burned to a CD to share with others.
